Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is a standardized entrance test widely used for students aspiring to get admission for Undergraduate Courses abroad, especially in US and Canada. The purpose of the SAT exam is to measure a high school student’s readiness for College and also provide Colleges with one common evaluation parameter which can be used to compare all the candidates. Apart from the College admissions, the SAT scores are also used to offer academic Scholarships.
SAT exam is conducted by the College Board. It is offered 5 times in a year in India and is usually administered on the first Saturday of each month.
SAT 1 : This is a general test that has been developed to evaluate the written, verbal and mathematical skills of candidates.
SAT 2: This is a more subject-focused test. Students looking to get admission to a particular course are required to take the SAT Subject Test to demonstrate their knowledge of that particular subject.
SAT is a 3 hour exam without an essay and 3 hours 50 minutes with essay. Recently College Board has announced that SAT exam will go digital starting in 2023 and it will be two hours long test instead of three hours currently.
The SAT exam fee is $55 (INR 4,081.00). In addition to this Indian candidates will have to pay a non - US regional fee of $49 (INR 3600.00), which means the total exam fee for Indian nationals is $104 (INR 7700.00 approximately)
SAT scores are valid for a period of 5 years from the day of declaration of results.
The Reading Test consists of five reading passages followed by multiple-choice questions for each passage. The passages are based on how the Author uses the evidence, Understanding of words in the context, and passages from the field of History, Social studies and science. You have 65 minutes to complete this test, which includes 52 questions total.
The writing and Language test consists of 4 passages. The passages are about a variety of topics, including careers, science, the humanities, and history and social studies. You will have 1 passage as narrative and the remaining as argumentative, informative, explanatory or convincing the reader to something. You have 35 minutes to complete this test, which includes 44 multiple choice questions.
Algebra - focuses on the mastery of linear equations and systems.
Problem Solving and Data Analysis, which is about being quantitatively literate.
Advanced Math, which features questions that require the manipulation of complex equations.
They also consist of questions from Geometry and Trigonometry.
The Maths test is divided into 2 parts the Calculator and Non calculator portion.
The Calculator portion has 38 question, and 55 minutes whereas the non calculator portion has 20 questions with 25 minutes.

Your total score is a number between 400 and 1600. The total score is the sum of the two section scores: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. Each of these two section scores has a possible range of 200–800. The Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score is composed of the Reading Test and the Writing and Language Test, and each of those tests contributes equally to the section score. The Math section score is made up of the Math Test only.

SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST is standardised test administered by the college board. Students looking for their undergraduate attempt this exam.
SAT is an entrance exam conducted for the students looking for their undergraduate admissions abroad. It helps to evaluate the language and mathematical reasoning skills of the applicants.
Students belonging to the age group of 17 – 19 are the highest to appear for the SAT exam.
Students can take their SAT exam for the first time in the spring of their junior year and again in the fall before the college deadlines.
The total score is the sum of the two section scores. It ranges from 400 – 1600. Candidates receive their scores in the range of 200 – 800.
There is nothing like pass mark in SAT exam.

The score of your exam will be available after 3 weeks after your date of examination.
There are no restrictions set by the board. Student can take the SAT exam as many times as they want.
SAT scores are valid forever, but some universities will not accept the score which is older than 5 years.
Candidates looking for cancellation of the exam should cancel 5 days in advance. They will be refunded with$10.
Candidates are requested to pay extra fee for the reschedule of the exam in the official account of the candidate.
Test takers use calculators for the math portion of the exam.
Students with regular practice can crack the SAT exam with the preparation of 2 – 3 months.
One of the main difference between SAT and ACT is ACT includes science section and SAT does not. It does not have a dedicated section for science section.
SAT exam is easy for the students who have done test preparation well in advance.
It is not an impossible task, but it requires a well - planned study plan and should understand how the scores are being divided for each part.
Candidates should prepare at least 6 – 20 hours for their first SAT and should take enough time to prepare for their struggling topics.
The lowest mark taken by the test taker would be 400, retaking the SAT can help the test taker to score better. There is no failing or passing in SAT exam.
No, there is no negative points so skipping or answering the question incorrectly will result in the same score
To secure some scholarship the candidate score should be between 1200 – 1600.
The SAT exam include 154 multiple choice questions.
Most of the questions in SAT are MCQ based questions only.
